Bottom Lines

Starting early to form inward attitudes is the goal of the Seedling's bottom lines. We align with our K-5 CORE and After School program value words but recognize that young minds can't always comprehend one word. That's why we have bottom lines. Bottom lines are simple sentences that the preschool age child can hold onto and live out! 

Below are the monthly bottom lines with their corresponding value word for the 2012-2013 school year:

September 2012 - "I am loved and can love others."

Value Word: Respect

Preschoolers can display respect through their words and actions.  Because they are special and unique, they are capable of being respectful.

 

October 2012 - "I am special and unique."

Value Word: Individuality

Preschoolers will recognize that all people are one of a kind. We all look and act differently, but can work together and respect each other.

 

November 2012 - "I can be a good friend."

Value Word: Cooperation

Preschoolers will experience that it takes cooperation and working together to get along with their peers and make friends

 

December 2012 - "I can help."

Value Word: Compassion

Preschoolers can show compassion by helping the people around them. They can practice compassion at school and at home.

 

January 2013 - "I can ask for help."

Value Word: Determination

Preschoolers can ask for help when they find they cannot do something on their own. They will learn that asking for help when needed is good.

 

February 2013 - " I can share."

Value Word: Peace

Preschoolers can create a peaceful environment by sharing. They can share things, attention, opinions, and ideas with others.

 

March 2013 - "I can tell the truth."

Value Word: Honesty

Preschoolers are capable of telling the truth. They will learn that by being honest and truthful, they are being a good friend.

 

April 2013 - "I know what it takes to make and keep friends."

Value Word: Friendship

Preschoolers have learned many values that go into friendships. They are able to have good manners and social skills. Preschoolers know that respect and kindness help them keep friends.

 

May 2013 - "I can wait."

Value Word: Patience

Preschoolers are able to wait patiently. They can accept delayed gratification, persevere, or work diligently toward a goal

 

2013 - 2014 Bottom Lines and Corresponding Values

AUGUST 2013:  " I can follow directions."
Value Word: Obedience - Trusting those who lead you by doing what you’re asked to do


SEPTEMBER 2013: "I can be brave."

 Value Word: Courage - Being brave enough to do what you should do even when you’re afraid 

  

OCTOBER 2013: " I know others are special."

Value Word: Honor - Letting someone know you see how valuable they really are


NOVEMBER 2013: "i can make good choices." 

Value Word: Wisdom - Finding out what you should do and doing it. 

 

DECEMBER 2013: "I can have a good attitude." 

Value Word: Joy - Finding a way to be happy, even when things don’t go your way 

 

JANUARY 2014: TBA

Value Word: 

Knowledge: Discovering something new so you can be better at whatever you do.

 

FEBRUARY 2014: "I can use good manners."

Value Word: Courtesy -- showing others respect by using good manners

 

MARCH 2014: "I will not stay angry."

Value Word: Forgiveness - deciding that someone who has wronged you doesn’t have to pay

 

APRIL 2014: "I don't have to be first." 

Value Word: Humility - putting others first by giving up what you think you deserve 

 

MAY 2014: TBA

Value Word: Endurance–Sticking with what you started even when it gets tough.
