Value Words

Core Essentials combines the forces of a value and its definition and pairs it with a framework of easily-to-implement tools.  Using values that after school programs and parents can all agree on, we rotate 27 value words and definitions over a three year time span. Curriculum components are written each year so that the material for the rotating values are always new and relevant!  

Below are the value words and definitions for the 2012-2013 school year. 

September 2012: Respect

 Showing others they are important by what you say or do

October 2012: Individuality

Discovering who you’re meant to be so you can make a difference

November 2012: Cooperation 

Working together to do more than you can do alone

December 2012: Compassion 

Caring enough to do something about someone else’s need

January 2013: Determination 

Deciding it’s worth it to finish what you’ve started

February 2013: Peace 

Proving you care more about each other than winning an argument

March 2013: Honesty 

Choosing to be truthful in whatever you say and do

April 2013:  Friendship

Spending time with someone you trust and enjoy

May 2013:  Patience 

Waiting until later for what you want now
